The Spanish design firm Vondom has been awarded this prestigious international design award. The products for which we have been selected as winners are the Gatsby lamp, the Voxel lounger, and the Africa lounger.
This award is one of the oldest design competitions in the world and is organised by The Chicago Athenaeum. This organisation raises awareness of contemporary design and honours both products and industry leaders in design and manufacturing who have pioneered new directions for innovation and driven firms’ push for competitiveness.
It is a great honour for Vondom to receive this award with these designs, as they represent a breakthrough in innovation, as the first time that Vondom has produced injection moulded loungers. The Gatsby lamp, however, is fast becoming an icon of the firm, making it a best seller.
Voxel Lounger designed by Karim Rashid
Designed by the renowned Karim Rashid, a lounger with a modern style and outdoor functionality has been born, following in the footsteps of the Voxel Collection. Manufactured by gas-assisted injection moulding and reinforced with fibreglass, it is characterised by a geometric, angled, and faceted shape.
Africa Lounger designed by Eugeni Quitllet
A new lounger that is part of the successful Africa Collection designed by Eugeni Quitllet for the Vondom furniture design house. A piece boasting simple and natural shapes that allows maximum relaxation near the sea or the pool. Thanks to its wheels, you can easily follow the path of the sun.
Gatsby Lamp designed by Ramón Esteve
A table lamp that is reminiscent of Art Deco lighting. The lamp stems from the idea of creating an enveloping atmosphere through the suggestive play of light that is created by the surfaces of the lamp, where the material reproduces the shape and sensations of cut glass.
