The Spanish designer décor firm participated in this sustainability event, Design for the Oceans, held in València, the World Design Capital 2022.
The legacy of Valencian design
The city of Valencia has embarked on a journey towards creativity and culture. As the World Design Capital 2022, the land of flowers and fallas has the responsibility of showcasing the past and defining the future. We refer to legacy, and there is no better memento than sustainability, our present and future.
On this journey through the candidacy, Design for the Oceans took place on 26 May in the form of a roundtable featuring brands from Valencia’s design sector. The event was held at The Sea, a venue located in Veles e Vents at the Valencia Marina.
The aim was to reflect on the role of design as a tool for change from a dual perspective: that of a company whose roots are based on sustainability, and that of a business that has evolved towards a more responsible model.
Recycled furniture
Vondom had the pleasure of participating in this special affair, where they explained the key concept behind Revolution, the firm’s sustainable commitment that, for the time being, has resulted in collections made with recycled plastic from the Mediterranean.
Revolution is continuously evolving, and our goal is to grow this philosophy towards new horizons centred on initiatives such as green packaging, renewable energy and waste reduction.
The future is circular
Afterwards, María Navarro, Manager of ADCV, moderated a talk in which our Sales Director, Dermot Nally, joined the other speakers to discuss the main obstacles standing in the way of creating sustainable companies, the challenges of the future and the circular nature of production efforts.
We would like to thank the organizers and the other participating brands for this opportunity. We have the power to send out a clear message: sustainability is a necessity for the world as well as a requirement for businesses that should dare to venture out and be inspired by a higher purpose.
